| Oil Painting Most students start with a landscape, seascape or floral for this class. Oil tends to be easier for most to work in than acrylic due to acrylic paint's fast drying time. With oil your not in a rush to get things blended. ![]() Note on supplies: It is easier to get the supplies with the help of Lisa. Most often when Students try to purchase all of the supplies on their own, many things need to be exchanged. You may want to bring the supplies bought outside of Hobby Lobby to your first class (like Viva paper towels) and purchase the rest of the supplies with the help of Lisa at the time of your class. |
Supply list for Oil paint: *Paint Colors - white, black (preferably Weber's Permalba black), dark green, dark blue, dark brown, yellow, red, purple. Any other paint colors you bring will be welcome, the actual painting you choose to paint will determine the individual colors needed. We can go over this before class. I prefer Windsor and Newton or Gumbacher Oil color. There are few other brands I allow in class due to paint quality. *Liquin *Canvas - 16" X 20" size or smaller recommended to start with. *Brushes - A variety will be needed. Make sure to have soft and stiff brushes in different sizes ranging from a 2" brush down to a liner brush. *Paint Thinner -only 'Mona Lisa Artist Odorless Paint Thinner' is recommended. *Paint Thinner -I recomend the Mona Lisa container. *Paper Towells - Viva paper towels ONLY please. Yes it makes a huge difference *Palette - Any flat palette will work fine.
