This painting presented quite a challenge for me. I painted the background four different ways. Each time I was unhappy with it I tried something else. Each attempt was ok...just not quite what I was looking for. It finally got to the point that I felt I needed to gesso over it and start again. The 5th time was a charm! It was exactly what I wanted. The time lapse video below only covers from the point I gessoed (gesso'd? gessoed?) previous layers.
This is an 18"x24" oil over acrylic on gesso board.
