"The Return to Avalon" was painted in 2001 as an entry for the 43rd annual Catalina Festival of Art show. This piece features the well known Catalina Casino and is full of ocean life that can be found in the waters of Southern California.
My husband and I were married in the city of Avalon located in Catalina Island the year before. This art show was bringing us back there, hence the name. This painting remains a part of my private collection. It is painted in acrylic using regular brush work as well as airbrushing.
