the return to Avalon

"The Return to Avalon" was painted in 2001 as an entry for the 43rd annual Catalina Festival of Art show. This piece features the well known Catalina Casino. It is full of ocean life that can be found in the waters of Southern California, including the beautiful Garibaldi fish. My husband and I were married in the city of Avalon located in Catalina Island the year before. This art show was bringing us back there, hence the name. It is painted in acrylic using regular brush work as well as airbrushing.
